Molotov Or The Sleep Of Reason Produces Monsters
Molotov Or The Sleep Of Reason Produces Monsters
By Alan Sobrino
Published by Errant Press
An exploration of the complex relationship between money and society.
The cover of MOLOTOV is inspired by Monopoly bills and shows our character, Eepee, dressed as a president. In the back, "The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters" steals the title from Goya's work to title the essay printed in three columns. The text delves into the history of currency by creating a precise timeline of money's history. The second part of the essay is a direct quote from an interview with a soccer legend, Manchester United's King Eric Cantona, where he proposes a simple idea on how to collapse today's capitalistic society. The combination of these two ideas reveals the dual nature of the physical book. The book, half Monopoly bill, half essay, is also half book, half bomb, and half ideological bomb, and half real bomb. And finally, half bomb and half manifesto.
The book comes with a screen-printed fabric, a sticker, and instructions on assembling your Molotov cocktail. Bottle not included.
